# Dia vs. Praktika (2026): Preise, Sprachen und welcher KI-Tutor zu dir passt

Praktika kombiniert KI-Avatar-Tutoren mit einer Lektionsbibliothek in 13 Sprachen. Dia ist freie Konversation in über 30 Sprachen mit regionalen Varianten, im Web und in Apps. Preise und Funktionen mit Stand November 2026, vom Gründer von Dia, auch mit den Fällen, in denen Praktika die bessere Wahl ist.

We make Dia, so this is a first-party comparison. Everything we say about Praktika comes from Praktika's website, its help center or its US App Store page as of November 2026, with links in the sources below. Where Praktika is the better pick, we say so.

The short version: Praktika suits you if you like practicing with a tutor you can see on screen, want a library of ready-made lessons (it lists IELTS and TOEFL prep among them), and your language is one of its 13. Dia suits you if your language or regional variety isn't covered there, if you want to practice in a web browser, or if you'd rather pay once than subscribe.

## Praktika and Dia side by side (as of November 2026)

## How a practice session works in each

Praktika puts a tutor character on screen. Its help center calls them AI avatars, and the App Store page says each tutor has a personality and an accent. You talk with the tutor, get corrections on pronunciation, grammar and word choice as you go, and see pronunciation and fluency feedback when the conversation ends. Around the conversations sits a lesson library, and you can turn your own material (a photo, a PDF, a voice note) into a lesson.

Dia is a conversation from the first message. You talk or type about whatever you want, and Dia answers in the language you're learning, at your level. A mistake gets the corrected form and a one-line explanation in your own language, and then the conversation continues. Dia keeps what you told it about your goals and interests, and the words you've been practicing come back in later sessions.

## Where Praktika is the better choice

- You want a face. If talking to a character on screen keeps you practicing, that's how Praktika is built.
- You want lesson content, especially for an English exam. Praktika lists 1,000+ lessons, including IELTS and TOEFL prep, and lets you make lessons from your own files.
- Price, if the advertised rate applies to you. Praktika's homepage says about $8 a month, and its help center offers new users 50% off their first plan when they sign up on the website. Either can come in under Dia's $9.99 for 30 days.

## Where Dia is the better choice

- Your language isn't one of Praktika's 13. Dia covers 30+, including Turkish, Swedish, Greek and Hindi.
- You care about the regional variety. In Dia you choose it directly: Austrian or Swiss German, Mexican or Spain Spanish, French from France or Canada, American, British or Australian English. If you're preparing for a German exam in Austria or Germany, our [guide to the telc, ÖIF and Goethe B1 speaking tests](/en/blog/telc-b1-sprechen-ueben) covers each part.
- You want to practice in a browser. Praktika's website sends you to its iOS and Android apps. Dia also runs on the web, so you can practice on a laptop, or in the browser on an older iPhone (Praktika's iOS app needs iOS 18 or later).
- You don't want a subscription. Dia sells a one-off $9.99 for 30 days, and the free account keeps giving you 10 messages a day after the first 24 hours of Premium.

## What you pay

Praktika's App Store page lists many products at different prices ($6.99, $9.99, $19.99, $39.99, $49.99, $119.99, $139.99), including a promo plan and a plan bundled with a trial, so the price you see depends on which offer you get. Its homepage settles on about $8 a month. Dia's prices for new web buyers are simpler: $4.99 a week, or $9.99 once for 30 days. Both have a free tier; Praktika's limits practice and keeps tutor memory for Premium, while Dia's limits you to 10 messages a day.
